Ban On New Forest Roads Will Stay

(9/21/2006)   The Bush administration sought to relax a ban on new road building and on logging in the most pristine national forests. But U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Elizabeth D. Laporte has ruled against the administration, upholding a 2001 ban put in place during the Clinton administration.

Laporte ruled that the Bush Administration could not weaken the ban until it achieved compliance with requirements of both eh Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act.

Officials of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the federal overseers of the national forests, disagreed with the decision, but said they have not yet decided whether to appeal the decision or not.

Advertising/Marketing You Can Afford--An Invitation

(8/13/2006)   Advertise your business or professional services in great places for just $19.95 per month!  Become a "charter" partner in the ITSBITS® Marketing Group.

One of the main problems facing all of us is advertising. We all want to advertise in hot media spots, but costs are prohibitive. For example, one one-minute spot on a top-rated morning radio show is $3,000/month. We're launching the ITSBITS® Marketing Group so you can pay far less, yet still reach out through a number of media outlets to get better exposure at a price you can actually afford--for example, $19.95/month. Certain professional people will qualify for even lower rates!

You're invited to attend one of our free "Getting The Word Out" seminars to hear about this exciting marketing plan. No multi-level marketing, no gimmicks; just common sense mixed with lots of expertise. For more information and to register to attend, visit www.ITSBITS.com/seminars/ today--seating is limited, so don't wait. You can also register by calling Laura at 408-1477.

Profit With Today's Internet--A Seminar Invitation

(8/13/2006)   Since before Al Gore invented the internet, we've been working with it. Now, we'd like to share some information with you.

There was a time not too long ago when, if you built it, they would come--that was the internet. But like so many other things, the times have changed. Now there are well over 1 billion web sites--dogs, cats and babies all have web sites!

On today's internet, the problem is how to make your web site work for you to improve your bottom line.

Today's internet is a mystery to many and many who think they understand it, just plain don't. That's why the "coolest" web site may well be a complete flop for your business!

If you're a business owner, a professional person, or if your company provides you a "web site" on their site (realtors are especially prone to this problem) we urge you to attend our free seminar on how to profit with today's internet.

For more information and to register to attend, visit www.ITSBITS.com/seminars/ today--seating is limited, so don't wait. You can also register by calling Laura at 408-1477.

Save The Internet--Call A Senator Today

(8/13/2006)   It passed the House before anyone knew what happened. Then it went to the U.S. Senate. It is called Senate Bill 2686, the Communications, Consumers' Choice and Broadband Deployment Act.

If this legislation is allowed to become law in its present form, every phone and cable company will be allowed to charge not just the amount you pay to subscribe, i.e., get internet service, but also a fee to allow others to send content over their "wire." They say, "We won't charge...trust us!"

What does this mean? Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Sears, Amazon, and lots of other web sites can be forced to pay a fee to send information over every phone and/or cable company's piece of the net. Big companies will pass that on to you in the form of higher prices (ouch.) Small companies will pass into oblivion. The internet will be irrevocably changed as "free" and "variety" become just fond memories.

We urge you to join us in telling your U.S. Senators to ignore the phone and cable companies' billions and to stop this travesty by refusing to vote for the bill as it now stands to go to the floor for a full Senate vote. Tell them "No net neutrality, no bill. Or else, no vote for reelection!" Call them today--it will take you less than three minutes to give your opinion to both:

Senator Richard Shelby 202-224-5744
Senator Jeff Sessions 202-224-4124

Patch Servers And Computers Now

(8/13/2006)   A network worm attack exploiting a critical Microsoft Windows vulnerability (Windows XP, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server) appears inevitable since code and hacks to exploit the unpatched computers was released on the internet on or about August 10. Microsoft had, just a few days earlier, released a service patch to stop the exploit, see MS06-040 bulletin  for details and to download the patch.

According to US-CERT (United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team) the vulnerability was already being exploited in targeted attacks--a sure sign that a wide-spread worm attack is imminent.

The message is easy. If your computers aren't patched, this is a good time to back up your data and get the patches installed.
