PingBats is designed to help you troubleshoot connectivity problems--yours or your clients'. In most cases, the program automatically configures itself the first time it is run--hence, it can ping your network interface card (NIC), your computer's IP network interface, your local IP gateway, and beyond to your ISP's DNS servers. 
If your DHCP server can't be reached or does not supply an IP for the computer, you'll be notified of that problem immediately and it will be highlighted in red.
You'll have the capacity to ping web sites out on the world wide web. You can also manually configure what IPs you'll ping, thus tailoring the program to meet your own needs.
All you have to do once PingBats is configured is run the program and wait a few seconds. Slow ping results will show up in yellow and failures will show up in red. Now, if you're doing help-desk work, all you have to ask your user is, "What does it say and what's red or yellow?" If you're looking at your own machine, you'll want to look at the explanations provided within the program...they'll tell you quite a lot about what's wrong with your network connectivity and whether to call your ISP or your desktop support people.
If you're working on a help desk in your company's enterprise, here's a little tool you won't want to be without--just put it on your desktops so the user can tell you where to look for pesky connectivity problems--who to dispatch and where to send them. PingBats will work well at home, within a peer-to-peer environment, or in the largest enterprise environment--anywhere a TCP/IP network is being used and relied upon.
And at $15.00 per license, PingBats won't kill you financially.
